LfE Webinar: A sneak-peak into a Mars expedition – Virtual visit to the OeWF spacesuit laboratory

Wednesday 22nd November: A sneak-peak into a Mars expedition – Virtual visit to the OeWF spacesuit laboratory

The Learning from the Extremes project is organising a Webinar that will realise a Virtual visit to the OeWF spacesuit laboratory.

Seda Özdemir-Fritz and Gernot Grömer provide an overview to the Mars mission simulations of the Austrian Space Forum, where crews of analog astronauts explore the Red Planet in “mimicked” Mars missions on Earth. Currently, the spacesuit simulators for the next mission in 2024 are in preparation and this virtual visit to the laboratory provides a sneak-preview to the technologies to be used at the next international mission in Armenia, the AMADEE-24 expedition.

We will offer a first-hand account of the challenges of operating a spacesuit in a Mars-like desert and how to do geoscientific experiments – a unique perspective into science-in-the-making with the opportunity to ask a lot of questions and see a spacesuit simulator up-close!
